Academic Policies

Clear standards for clock hours, academic progress, completion, leave and withdrawal at MH Beauty School.

Clear standards for progress and completion

MH Beauty School maintains clear academic policies to help every student successfully complete required hours and prepare for California State Board licensing. These policies support fairness, consistency, and student success.

Programs are measured in clock hours. Our flexible schedule (open 7 days, 9:00 AM–7:00 PM) lets you plan attendance around work and family while still making steady progress.

Key policies

  1. Clock Hour Accumulation — progress is measured by completed hours toward your program total.
  2. Flexible Attendance — open 7 days a week, 9 AM–7 PM; plan a schedule that fits your life while staying consistent.
  3. Skill Competency — instructors assess practical and theory skills; additional support is available if needed.
  4. Completion Requirements — hours + demonstrated skills + financial standing + handbook requirements.
  5. Leave of Absence — available when life circumstances require a pause; contact the school early.
  6. Withdrawal & Re-enrollment — clear procedures protect both student and school; details in the enrollment agreement.

Frequently asked questions

How are program hours tracked?

You accumulate clock hours by attending during open school hours. Instructors and administration monitor progress toward the total required for your program (e.g., 400 for Nail, 600 for Esthetician).

What is satisfactory academic progress?

Consistent progress in both hours completed and practical/theoretical skills. Students who fall behind may receive additional guidance or a progress plan.

What do I need to graduate / complete the program?

Complete the required clock hours, demonstrate competency in the skills of the curriculum, satisfy financial obligations per school policy, and meet other requirements in the enrollment agreement and Student Handbook.

Can I take a leave of absence?

Yes. Contact the school promptly. Policies for leave, withdrawal, and possible re-enrollment are in the handbook and enrollment agreement.

What if I need to withdraw?

Notify the school as soon as possible. Refund and re-entry rules are governed by the enrollment agreement.

Where can I read the full policies?

In the Student Handbook and your enrollment agreement. Admissions or administration can explain any point.

Things to know first

Policies are written to help you finish and become licensed, not to create barriers.
